This interactive forum will bring nearly 1,000 healthcare professionals of all disciplines together to highlight the most promising work being done in support of NICHQ’s bold agenda to improve children’s healthcare quality.  Session topics include:


  • Patient safety
  • Childhood obesity
  • Chronic conditions
  • Quality Improvement— linked to advocacy, equity in care and finance.


Sessions will also highlight cross cutting themes of family engagement, promoting equity and translation of evidence into practice.   Please join us to connect with other healthcare professionals and learn innovative and inspiring ways to positively impact children’s healthcare quality.

NICHQ is now accepting nominations for the 2009 Bergman Award

NICHQ is seeking nominations for the 2009 Bergman Award. The award recipient should be an individual who has shown substantial leadership in advancing the quality and safety of healthcare for children. Nominees must have made a significant contribution to improved quality and safety of healthcare for children through a sustained program and/or series of projects. Contributions should have a national impact or be at a regional level but of national significance.

The NICHQ Bergman Award will recognize individuals whose work demonstrates the following characteristics:

  • Visionary leadership
  • Innovation
  • Results oriented
  • Patient and family focused
  • Multidisciplinary
  • Fostering collaborative efforts
  • Focused on community
  • Promoting equity in care and outcomes
  • Systems oriented

The collective work of the award recipient should contribute towards the development of a health system that is safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable for all patients and populations, particularly children.

The NICHQ Bergman Award is named in honor of David A. Bergman MD who serves as NICHQ Board Member and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Bergman has been a longtime innovator in developing, testing and applying novel approaches to making the healthcare system more responsive to the needs of children and their families. The goal of this award is to recognize individuals whose work has substantially improved the quality of care for children in the United States.
