Tips:

  • Identify and engage key clinical leaders for change (individuals and organizations, such as AAP, AAFP)
  • Engage payers and employers in improvement efforts, identify and address financial barriers to better care; engage pediatric councils that work with insurers on coverage and reimbursement
  • Develop greater capacity in effective treatment centers for children requiring such services
  • Adopt effective improvement strategies organization wide
  • Engage senior leadership (including public and private payers) to promote leadership on youth overweight and drive improvement efforts
  • Facilitate care coordination throughout the health system [1]
  • Assess organizational and individual understanding of culturally and linguistically effective care and implement appropriate strategies for making and sustaining improvements

[1] Care coordination is assessing the needs and resources of the child/family, linking the child/family to appropriate services, and monitoring the care they receive.
