This year's Forum to address current healthcare environment with presentations on patient safety, childhood obesity, chronic conditions, health information technology and medical home; March 8-11, Hyatt Regency Atlanta, Atlanta, Georgia
Boston, MA, December 8, 2009—The National Initiative for Children’s Healthcare Quality (NICHQ) today announced that healthcare professionals from around the world are now invited to register for the 2010 Annual Forum for Improving Children’s Healthcare and Childhood Obesity Congress.
With healthcare reform a real possibility, and CHIPRA placing quality and safety of care for children on the national radar screen, NICHQ’s 2010 Annual Forum for Improving Children’s Healthcare and Childhood Obesity Congress will bring together hundreds of healthcare professionals of all disciplines to improve children’s healthcare quality. Sessions will cover the latest thinking and successful applications in:
- Patient Safety
- Childhood Obesity
- Chronic Conditions
- Quality Improvement methods and tools with cross-cutting themes of:
o Policy and Advocacy
o Equity - Health IT and Quality

The Forum will offer keynote presentations from David L. Katz MD, MPH, FACPM, FACP, Director and Founder of Yale University's Prevention Research Center; Daniel Salinas MD, Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta; Lisa Simpson MB, BCh, MPH, FAAP, Director, Child Policy Research Center, Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center; and Charles J. Homer MD, MPH, president and chief executive officer, NICHQ.
The Annual Forum also includes fifteen presentations specifically aimed toward hospital staff. The sessions will cover a variety of topics, including: how to measure patient safety, examine ambulatory care and primary care/medical home redesign, address quality improvement in pediatric emergency settings, assess healthcare equality and design robust residency programs. The sessions will be presented by pediatric healthcare leaders with successful applications in these areas. They are designed to help equip attendees with the understanding to apply the practical knowledge gained within their own institutions.
