Why should I get involved?

As a healthcare professional (HCP) or community leader, you see the toll the childhood obesity epidemic is taking every day. You may feel frustrated by spending time educating families about the importance of physical activity only to hear local schools have slashed time outside the classroom. You may discuss the need to eat a healthy diet only to hear that your patients and clients don’t have a grocery store in their neighborhood.

The solutions to these problems are outside your office and in your community, and with the right tools and resources you’ll be prepared to tackle them!

Community members view healthcare providers as a trusted source of information related to obesity prevention. And non-healthcare professionals can strengthen their own advocacy efforts by partnering with HCPs in their communities to promote healthy nutrition and physical activity policies.

Get the facts about the childhood obesity epidemic, learn how it’s affecting your community, and explore resources that can help you take action.
