Autism Awareness Month
NICHQ is joining with other organizations around the country (and the world) in celebrating Autism Awareness Month in April and World Autism Awareness Day on April 2. We invite you to explore our resources, stories, videos, and other materials related to autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) and our national project, the Collaborative to Improve Care for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

On April 2, NICHQ joined hundreds of thousands of homes and communities to take part in Light It Up Blue, a unique global initiative led by Autism Speaks to kick-off Autism Awareness Month.

Our Project Teams
The ATN Consortium and the 14 teams participating in NICHQ's Collaborative to Improve Care for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders will celebrate Autism Awareness Month as well. Check out their planned activities below!
|Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center||Wear Blue to Work Day|
|Nationwide Children's Hospital||Building will LIUB, doing a presentation, promoting the Autism "Build a Bear" campaign in their clinic, wearing blue to work day and an autism-friendly science center day at the Center of Science and Industry|
|Arkansas||Hosting Team Up Autism Conference, Wear It Blue Raffle Day, hanging Autism Speaks window clings in clinic windows, the El Porton chain of restaurants will have their servers where blue and offer blue desserts, as well as working with local Autism Speaks chapter to host events and activities throughout the month|
|Missouri||Local businesses displaying LIUB posters, several large shopping centers will LIUB, doing a blue balloon release|
|Children's Hospital Los Angeles||Blue themed booth, banner, wear blue to work day, social media, hosting a booth and having a team at the Walk Now for Autism Speaks event|
|Children's Hospital of Philadelphia||Hosting a series of presentations, hosting the 4th annual Huddle Up for Autism, handing out autism awareness ribbon stickers as well as other planned activities for the month|
|University of Rochester||Building will LIUB and will hosting an event to showcase all the resources that are available and research going on at the university related to autism|

Join the Celebration
There are plenty of ways you can get involved in Autism Awareness Month as an individual, a family, a business, a coalition, etc. Check out the Tools & Resources on the Light It Up Blue website for ideas on how you can celebrate this month--many of the ideas from Light It Up Blue can be extended throughout April as part of Autism Awareness Month!
