Caring for Children with ADHD: A Resource Toolkit for Clinicians

Establishing standards for diagnosis and treatment of ADHD.

The ADHD toolkit was created by applying sound principles of chronic care management to ADHD cases—namely, involving families in a total care program, tracking the results of our studies, using evidence to establish guidelines and coordinating care among various caregivers. The NICHQ Vanderbilt Assessment Scales were developed through the Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Learning Collaborative project. The scales are used for helping healthcare professionals diagnose ADHD and are intended for children between the ages of 6 and 12. The Teacher and Parent assessments should take approximately 15 minutes to complete. The Scales are one of the resources available in both the 1st Edition (2002) and the 2nd Edition (2011) of the Caring for Children with ADHD toolkit.
