A Contextual Factors Framework to Inform Implementation and Evaluation of Public Health Initiatives
Understanding influences on initiatives' implementation and outcomes
This report presents a framework for evaluating contextual factors that influence initiatives at various stages, from initial design to sustainability after implementation. Based on related methods from improvement and implementation science, the framework was applied to three national initiatives to understand how unique factors affected outcomes and progress. These efforts can serve as a model for how the framework can be customized to facilitate greater understanding of the success of future public health programs.
