NICHQ's Approach

Led by experienced pediatric healthcare professionals, NICHQ integrates proven quality improvement methods with a solutions-based care model for child health to improve healthcare systems for kids.

Our services include:

Learning Collaboratives

NICHQ has extensive experience running learning collaboratives, which bring together a diverse collection of people and organizations to improve care in a specific disease category or topic area. Participants attend a series of learning sessions led by national experts, and work together over a period of time to test, share, and implement improvement strategies.

Building the Capacity for Improvement

NICHQ offers a foundational program called Jump-Start: Quality Improvement Fundamentals for Leaders in Children’s Healthcare, which provides training in improvement methods and tools and prepares healthcare leaders to guide organizations in implementing dramatic improvements. This course is unique in its sole focus on care for children.

State and Regional Improvement Programs

Through our work with state Medicaid and Title V programs, NICHQ builds local capacity to sustain improvement. We work with state government, professional societies and other state and regional entities to drive local improvement in areas such as childhood obesity and children with special health care needs.

Advocacy/Mobilization

NICHQ works to mobilize healthcare professionals in advocating for environmental changes that will lead to healthcare improvements within their communities. Our lead program in this area is Be Our Voice, a broad-scale initiative to train and support effective advocates on issues related to community and child health.

Networks

The Childhood Obesity Network (COAN) is NICHQ’s web-based national network of healthcare professionals who influence healthcare for childhood obesity. We also invite you to sign up for one of NICHQ’s listservs as a way to stay connected to other healthcare leaders committed to improving care for kids.
