Improving Follow-Up after Newborn Hearing Screening: An Action Kit for Audiologists
PART ONE: ASSESSING YOUR ORGANIZATION
This Action Kit is designed to help audiology practices provide more reliable follow-up care after newborn hearing screening. Providers participating in a series of national collaboratives developed the ideas and promising practices in this kit. It is designed to help providers create an efficient and reliable system of diagnosis and referral and ultimately improve outcomes for infants with hearing loss and their families. The kit is divided into two parts:
Part One is an Assessment Tool designed to help you compare current practice to best practice and thereby develop clear priorities for improvement.
Part Two will contain comprehensive best practice ideas and solutions gleaned from extensive improvement work on this subject.
Formal research has not yet validated these ideas, and this resource does not represent all possible ideas for improvement within each area. But this Action Kit does represent promising practices that have been shown to be effective.
